1/28/2024 0 Comments Nikon capture nx d reviewI'm now using CNX-D almost to the Exclusion of CNX2.īeautiful RAW conversion with, IMHO, superior color controls and highlight/shadow handling. With VNX2 and CNX-D these programs crash when trying to create a thumbnail. The solution is crop before saving or exporting. The problem is images that have more image data than shown as when an image is straightened in CNX2 CNX-D or canvas size is used in CS2. I've found one problem that will crash ViewNX2 (last version), NX-D v1.4x and cause layer registration problem for Photoshop CS2. It was a pain in the ass to learn as it was really buggy when Nikon released what it said was a finished, that not beta program. (See my other thread on this).ĬaptureNX-D works and it works well. In fact Sierra will be out in a few days and CNX2 will continue to work with it. If you are upgrading (not freshly installing) El Capitan, then CNX2 will continue to work. Lightroom, DxO, On1 is going to be releasing its Raw editor soon, etc. So, relatively easy to learn, quality output and something like control points - but not necessary with super sleek workflow, archiving etc, is there such an animal?Īre you leaving behind CNX2 because you are migrating to another camera not supported by it? Or simply because you want a new image processing platform? If control points is not an issue, you can also consider CNX-D. I have tried Photoshop a couple of times and found it just too hard to gain control over, and not forget half of what I learned until the next editing session a few weeks later. So workflow is not a great issue for me as I don't have to process hundreds of pictures every other day, and I don't live off selling any pictures - although that would be a great plan for a crash diet. I've been sticking to Capture NX so long both for RAW to JPG conversion quality and Control Points, which I use in almost every picture. ![]() I'm a casual user in terms of pics taken per unit time, but I do like to spend time to tweak the hell out of my Nikon RAWs. After many years with Capture NX I plan use the upgrade to Mac OS X El Capitan as an excuse to do the ultimately unavoidable step and migrate to an image processing platform with a future.
